Event Description

The highlight of "Thrill the World" in Hengelo was a massive performance on the city's central square (Marktplein or Brink).

Participants: Over 1,100 local primary school children took part, learning the choreography and dressing up in "zombie" costumes.

Performance: The children performed the iconic dance routine from Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video in unison.

Message of Unity: Following the dance, the children sang "We Are the World". During the chorus, they all put on red caps and formed a large red heart on the square, sending a message of love and cooperation to the world.

Global Recognition: A picture of the event was even shared on the official Michael Jackson website and Facebook page, making the Hengelo students "world famous" and exposing their initiative to tens of millions of followers.

Purpose: The event aimed to promote teamwork, community spirit, and the idea that children can achieve great things together, inspired by Michael Jackson's message of love and healing. The event also raised funds for the Ronald McDonald House charity.

MOONWALKER

The painting titled "Moonwalker" by Dutch artist Paul Smidt had a digital version of it sent to the Moon. Smidt won a contest that resulted in the artwork being included in a capsule that landed on the lunar surface as part of a NASA and Firefly Aerospace mission (Blue Ghost Mission).

Artwork: The painting is titled "Moonwalker" and depicts Michael Jackson performing his iconic dance move on the Moon. Smidt is a big fan of Michael Jackson and created the work as an ode to the artist.

Mission: A digital copy of the painting was sent to the Moon aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and carried by a lunar lander. The contest for this unique opportunity was organized by Copernic Space, a platform for trading space-related assets.

Significance: It is described as one of the first NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) on the Moon. The physical painting is in the artist's possession, hanging in his home.

The artwork's title "Moonwalker" made it a fitting choice for a mission to the Moon.
